Description
A hike from the behind the Agriculture Canada Research Station up the southeast slopes of Mara to the top of the East (higher) summit
- meet at the meet-up spot (Brock) at 10:00 to carpool ($1) or driving directions
- this is the first day of Daylight Savings Time so don’t arrive an hour late
- drive to the trailhead (4km)
- hike for 2.5 hours
- elevation gain = 700m (2300 feet)
- average slope gradient = 16%
- most of the route is off-trail
- lunch along the way at a viewpoint on the summit
- we will loop on the way down to take a different path
- dress for the conditions (check comments)
- tick season
- some cactus on the slopes is likely
- a group hike; please stay in touch with the group on the route
- good hiking boots and poles recommended
