Description

Up the canyon to the top and back down a narrow path on the ridge

  • the whole route is as much scrambling as it is hiking
  • for the sure-footed and fit only
  • good boots and poles recommended
  • hikers are expected to stay with the group
  • some steep sections up and down
  • tick season and the possibility of snakes (unlikely)
  • cactus may be a problem for dogs
  • lunch at the top
  • a scenic and interesting route
  • Participants must be well-prepared, as noted in KHC Guidelines and Expectations; leaders retain the right to refuse registration from anyone who is not in compliance with the listed expectations (please review)
  • Note – there is a train tracks crossing at the start; if we are unlucky, we may have to wait going up or coming down; all due caution is required with this crossing
  • thanks to Vivian for co-leading this hike
