Description

We do this hike every year at about this time.

  • a steeper hike up the northeast ridge of Mount Mara, then a traverse to the viewpoint and back
  • lots of off-trail sections, relying on good boots, strong ankles, and self-sufficient hikers; poles recommended
  • article on the route – Mara North Highlights
  • tick season, but also wildflower season
  • participants must be fit enough to stay with the group since there are almost no trails to follow
  • lunch at the viewpoint
  • dress and prepare for the weather
  • Participants must be well-prepared, as noted in KHC Guidelines and Expectations; leaders retain the right to refuse registration from anyone who is not in compliance with the listed expectations (please read)
  • carpool to the trailhead at the end of the (rough) Pruden Pass Road
  • co-leaders/apprentices – contact me and I will reserve spots
  • thanks to Sheila Powell for co-leading this one
