Description
We do this hike every year at about this time.
- a steeper hike up the northeast ridge of Mount Mara, then a traverse to the viewpoint and back
- lots of off-trail sections, relying on good boots, strong ankles, and self-sufficient hikers; poles recommended
- article on the route – Mara North Highlights
- tick season, but also wildflower season
- participants must be fit enough to stay with the group since there are almost no trails to follow
- lunch at the viewpoint
- dress and prepare for the weather
- Participants must be well-prepared, as noted in KHC Guidelines and Expectations; leaders retain the right to refuse registration from anyone who is not in compliance with the listed expectations (please read)
- carpool to the trailhead at the end of the (rough) Pruden Pass Road
- co-leaders/apprentices – contact me and I will reserve spots
- thanks to Sheila Powell for co-leading this one
