Description

A challenging hike for a fitter group

  • carpool early (6:00) in Kamloops then drive to the trailhead – 2 hours
  • steady, strong hiking to Plateau of the Lakes – 2 hours,  then a scramble up to the summit of Trophy 2 – 1.25hrs.
  • lunch near the top
  • scramble down the ridge to the Trophy One high col
  • this route is for capable scramblers only
  • ascend to the summit of Trophy One – 2 hours
  • descend to Cwem Cwem Lake – 1 hour
  • traverse back to Plateau of the Lakes – 1.5 hours
  • hike back to the vehicles (1.5 hours)
  • mosquito season, not a time to be standing around; steady hiking recommended
  • the upper part of the mountain is steep and rocky; good hiking boots are required; poles recommended
  • this is backcountry so the Ten Essentials are important; bring a headlamp in case we get back late (article – Trophy at Twilight)
  • this is not a hike for novices or those with marginal fitness; it will be a demanding hike with a faster group (another leader will post a Trophy Meadows hike so watch for that event)
  • plan for 10 hours
  • bring a headlamp for a just-in-case measure if some difficulties are encountered
  • article on Long Hill (the high ridge next to Trophy 2)
  • article on Trophy One
