Description

We will base camp at Kicking Horse Campground (Field) which has showers and firepits.   This is prime larch color season in the Rockies, nights will be cool.   We will book into Truffles and Pigs (Field) for one supper if the group wishes.

Hikes will all be moderate/harder so good core fitness required; plus you should have done a reasonable amount of hiking through the season to enjoy the longer days.   Pace will not be super fast but some of the terrain is challenging.

Registration is open to enable hikers to book into B&B’s in Field if they choose not to camp.   Dogs are welcome although the hikes are long and dogs should be leashed on some hikes.

Day 1 – Drive to Field.   ? Visit Takkakaw Falls

Day 2-5 suggested hikes:

  • Emerald Highline/Basin
  • Ice Line/Twin Falls
  • Wenchkemna Pass or Sentinel Pass
  • Paget Lookout and Peak Δ (Day 1)
  • Stanley Glacier (Day 3)
  • Mt St Pirans via Little Beehive – peak series (Day 2)

Day 6:            6 people in the group are now booked on the Burgess Shale beds interpretive guided hike and will be out of the campground before 0700, so the rest of the group can do a hike into Wapta Falls en route to Kamloops or another half day hike on the way home.
