Early Summer KHChirps

Some short news items:

  • FMCBC’s June E-News
  • A You Tube Video of the Wheeler Hike by member Leah Lemaire
  • For those going into the Stein River, here is an article by member Jeremy Markel – Lower Stein Valley
  • Cougar and Bear Awareness Information Session – thanks to Michelle for organizing this
  • Some of the August events are now being enabled for registration
  • Most hikes over 3000 feet will have mosquitoes for the next 4 weeks, so go prepared
  • A number of our summer hikes are in very steep terrain so proper hiking boots are required.   Fitness, preparation, and care are needed on hikes like Yak Peak, the Needle, Zupjok, Trophy 1 and 2, the Bugaboos, and the Rockies backpacks.
  • Our thanks to Anthony Stahn for figuring out the code to label events as full or have spaces available.   A great website improvement for members!

Doug Smith

Retired now, I get into the outdoors most days to hike, paddle, camp, run, snowshoe, or explore. Some of my activities involve more difficult routes, but a few are also suitable for moderately fit people who like a bit of a challenge. Since I am out several times a week, I post one (or two) event(s) each week and I invite a small group of like-minded people to join me.
