Description

A hike to the ridge on top of Botanie Mountain overlooking the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers

  • part of the 2017 Summit Series
  • drive to Lytton early in the morning
  • go up the Botanie Valley, then onto the Botanie Mountain FSR for as far as conditions permit
  • 4WD access preferred
  • hike up the rough Fire Lookout Road to the top; 1400m elevation gain total (4600 feet)
  • good views of the Cantilever Range to the west

  • although a date is set, the final date will depend on the schedules of the group and on weather conditions; the hike may be moved to another day later that week
  • register for the posted date and we will plan for that day, but some discussion will take place in the last 3 days before the planned date

This hike will be for fit people who are prepared to hike all day.   Contact the leader if you are interested.   Numbers will depend on the number of high clearance vehicles committed.   The event will be updated in the spring.

The Summit Series

  • hikes, snowshoes, and scrambles to the summits of Interior mountains/peaks
  • an informal program of guided hikes for small groups
  • most of which require a longer drive to the trailhead and will take the whole day
  • dates will be posted but alternates will also be planned for inclement conditions so that the summit is achieved
