Details

- Difficulty - Moderate

Description
A downstream paddle during freshet.
- Launch in Chase at the beach
- paddle downstream
- goal – Lafarge Bridge beach (40km) – 5-6 hours
- option – take out at Pritchard Bridge (20km) – 2.75 hours
- the river moves more quickly during freshet
- some swirly water, but no rapids on this route
- lunch along the route (Pritchard)
- if the weather has strong headwinds, we will only go to Pritchard
- we paddle this route in May, June, or September to avoid the powerboats
- knowledge of self-rescue required
- we will paddle together for safety
- since this is a long paddle, participants will need to have built up some endurance in advance by doing some longer paddles
- please note – this route is much too long for novice paddlers; even intermediate paddlers will find the whole distance to be a challenge
- I will contact participants about meet-up times, possible carpooling, and shuttles closer to the event (the general framework is 9:00 – 3:00)

I would love to take part: Kayak 🙂
I have an extra kayak
I have an extra kayak as well
Replied to your msg Cindy Hayden.
Michelle and I so far – Will have a seat for a 3rd paddler or even a 4th if I get my act together – as I have an 18 1/2 ft canoe. Beginners welcome!
I will post info on logistics mid-week before the event. Please watch for updates.
Is anyone finishing at Pritchard? Please comment.
Michelle and I will be finishing at Pritchard. Her vehicle should be available to shuttle a couple of people if they decide to stop here as well.
I will be driving my truck to Chase with my boat. Di is going to drop off my truck at Lafarge so my rides are taken care of. I can help with shuttling, but I need to know your plans too.
We would be using our yaks so would either need to shuttle our vehicle down river or get a ride back to Chase.
I am kayaking. And also like Marguerite, I will need a shuttle to my vehicle down river or ride back to Chase. I plan to paddle to Lafarge.
I can take a second and possibly 3rd kayak on my truck so we can leave a vehicle at Lafarge
I need to work at 3 in Kamloops, so will likely need to stop at Pritchard. Can I catch a ride with you? my kayak is 14′
Cindy – If you go with Greg you can leave your kayak with me at Pritchard and catch a ride back to Kamloops with Michelle likely in time for work? Then Greg could pick it up later, or I could bring it in. I live in Pritchard. I will let Greg and Michelle know.
I can drive to Pritchard and leave my truck there if that works. then I can take my kayak home. Just need to know where to meet up to load the kayak. Maybe Pritchard beside the bridge? What time?
I didn’t realize you had a vehicle! The best way might be to drive right to Chase and then shuttle back with Michelle and I when she takes me to Chase to pick up my vehicle. We can leave your kayak in my yard. That way you only have to unload your kayak once.
I already have a (2)larger boats and am stopping at Lafarge and heading to Chase so thing are full with me
Cindy You can leave your truck at Pritch in my driveway if you like? And we can take you and your kayak to Chase. That way soon as you arrive back here you can load up and leave for work. You would have to get here a bit early so we have time to move the kayak over to my vehicle. I already have a J rack on the wagon so should only take about 15 minutes to transfer it over. To get here turn left off the bridge and go along River Rd. until you see a maroon station wagon with a green canoe on top parked in front of my place. How does 8:15 sound? Let me know which plan you prefer.
Nels, I will meet you at your place at 8:15. Thank you! so are you in the trailer park at Pritchard? If you have an address, I have a gps.
4941 River Road
Di is going to leave my truck at Lafarge after I unload the boat so I can drive 3 people from the end to the start. I will let the Prithcard people arrange their own transportation. See everyone at the park in Chase around 9:00. Turn into Chase and then cross the tracks on Pine Street, then follow 2nd avenue down to the park by the lake.
OK Doug, either Marguerite or I can catch a ride back to Chase with you to pick up our vehicle. That would be great. Thanks
A reminder of the road construction going on between Kamloops and Pritchard for the widening of the hwy. Speed limits vary 60km -80km in areas. Plan your time accordingly to get to Chase.
Update on this. Lots of construction between Pritch and about half way to Chase as well, but may ease off on Sunday. If the lunch stop is arranged a bit downriver from the bridge, there is a small patch of beach close to my place. WC and cold water replenishment available – so one can empty and refill if one wishes too. The river is really boogieing along so should be a fun time!
I will be kayaking- and stopping at Pritchard.
If you need a lift back to Chase Catherine, Michelle will take us back there and you can leave your boat in my yard as well. (We owe you a shuttle already 🙂 See ya on the water.
Wonderful- thanks very much!
