A workshop in using Google Earth as a tool for route planning.

  • for active KHC event leaders (and apprentices/co-leaders) only

  • measuring route distances
  • plotting tracks
  • importing tracks
  • saving and displaying tracks
  • elevations and elevation plots
  • saving images and editing them
  • GPS interface
  • image overlays
  • waypoints
  • 3D views
  • flights
  • lots more can be done
  • Google Earth Pro cost $400/year in the past, but is now free
  • group size – 6 only
  • bring a laptop if you have one and we will use a local wireless network
  • done at the leader’s home and he will contact participants
  • dates are flexible so we can discuss alternates
