Description

snowshoe to McGillivray LakeCome join us on Valentines Day for a LOVE-ly snowshoe at Sun Peaks Resort – ranked the second largest ski area in Canada.

Once on the mountain, we’ll meet at P5 (Parking Lot #5), get geared up, and then, as a group, head over to trail-head for the approximately 10km (return) McGillivray Lake snowshoe trail.  Trail Fee is $5.00 per person and can be purchased either at Guest Sevices in the Main Village or at the Nordic Centre which is adjacent to P5.

Suggest $7 donation drivers if you’re carpooling

Once we’ve reached the lake, we’ll cozy up in the delightful McGillivray Lake Outpost warming hut to enjoy our lunch.  The McGillivray Lake Trail is rated by Sun Peaks as an “Advanced” trail, so a strong level of fitness is recommended as there is over 500ft of elevation gain and a couple of sections of steep terrain on the journey up to the lake (poles are therefore advised).

Leaders Ed and Lois will be spending the nights of Feb.14th, 15th, and 16th at Sun Peaks Lodge (our annual fun ‘n frolic Valentine’s escape to Sun Peaks) with the 14th spent snowshoeing with y’all and the other 2 or 3 days downhill skiing.  Love to have others join us if they are so inclined; but it’s advised that you book your hotel/condo space asap!

Ed and Lois will be enjoying a special Valentine’s dinner (Feb.14th) at Mantle’s Restaurant (Sun Peaks Grand Hotel) and if any of you would like to join us, let us know well in advance and we can include you in on the reservation.
