Description

If you are thinking of doing any backpacking this summer and want to try out your loaded pack and heavier boots this is the hike for you.   A moderately hilly 7 km loop in Kenna Cartwright park to enable you to find the places that your pack and boots don’t fit!!   Anyone is welcome to come along without their full pack, or with doggies, but be prepared to be slower to enable the tortoises to complete the loop.  If you bring your pack try to load to at least 30 lbs.

We will meet at the Pacific Way parking area (up the hill behind Duffy’s Pub) and do a scenic moderately hilly loop to give you some ups and downs to test out the gear.   This loop usually takes 2 hours, with breaks, so I have allowed a 3 hr window for a slower pace and some more breaks.

Bring plenty of water – there is none available on the route – and some snacks or light lunch.
