Description

10906211_762470527184074_9140834871185613093_n[1]On January 24/2015, come join us for a club favorite snowshoe on these beautiful trails located at larch Hills near Salmon Arm.

*You can expect to be snowshoeing on these beautiful trails including an added 3.2 km (each way) climb to Cec’s cabin which has just been recently explored and definitely well worth the effort of the climb to reach this cabin nestled in the woods, this trail has been named “Coffey’s Climb” in memory of a long time leader and man who contributed greatly to the development of many trails system in the area with the Shuswap trail Alliance. A perfect way to give Thanks for all his hard work in establishing so many trails for all of us to enjoy.

* Due to the length of this snowshoe (11-12 km) participants need to be physically fit and able to snowshoe at a steady pace as we need to complete this event before dark. We will stop for a quick lunch at the South Hub shelter, then a snack at the cabin before returning.

* This snowshoe adventure also promises to provide you with a winter wonderland scenery, especially if fresh snow has fallen, the trees are usually covered in a thick blanket of snow which makes the scenery breathtaking as you walk through the forested area. As a bonus, there is a small pond area that sparkles with green water and beautiful reflections.

* 2 hour drive from Kamloops to Larch Hills.

* Meet at Princess Auto at 8:00 am to arrange carpooling.

* Meet the Chase members at Chase Petro Canada around 08:45 am to caravan to the trailhead- a good spot to stop and use the facilities and perhaps grab a coffee if you wish.

* $15 for drivers if you choose to carpool

* Dress for the conditions. Layers are recommended.

* Bring lunch, snacks, water, camera and all you hiking/showshoeing essentials.

* Poles recommended
