Description

We will meet at Aberdeen Mall at 8:30 and travel south on Highway 5 past the Coquihalla Recreational Area.  From Exit 192, we travel 20 km along the Sowaqua FSR to the trailhead.  The FSR should be suitable for a 2wd vehicle, but a truck would be better.

  • From the trailhead we will travel east along the HBC Heritage Trail from Sowaqua Creek Campsite to Camp Du Chevreuil Campsite.  This section of trail is 4 km long and climbs 725m through a number of steep switchbacks.
  • From Camp Du Chevreuil we will continue on and have lunch at Palmers Pond.
  • From Palmers Pond we go off trail and scramble to the summit of Mount Davis.  This is an additional 4 km with a 490m elevation gain.
  • Return via the same route.

Palmers Pond

Palmers Pond

This will be a long day on a challenging steep (1215m elevation gain) trail.  All participants must be able to keep a steady pace over the 18 km distance.

This is a dog friendly hike.  The leader will be bringing a dog.

If you have not done a number of harder or challenging hikes this year, this may not be the hike for you.
