Description

  • Come join us for the first hike in our new “Walkabout” series.
  • “Walkabout” is an Australian word meaning  “A spontaneous journey through the wilderness of one’s choosing”.
  • These hikes will be on and off trail, easy to moderate trail, an easy pace,  less than 10 km and a lot of fun!
  • Katherine and Judy will be planning these hikes.
  • This hike will take us through the hills above the small community of Fredrick then down to the beach on Kamloops Lake for lunch.
  • There is an old rock oven by the tracks that the old time railroaders used for bread.
  • Cameras are a must as we may see Bluebirds, Meadowlarks and Buttercups as well as great views of Kamloops Lake.
  • This is an easy to moderate trail over about 5 km.
  • The pace will be easy.
  • Lunch at the beach then return to our cars by around 2.
  • Meet at the Ord Road Dog Park parking lot at 9:30 am.
  • On the trail by 10 am.
  • $3 for drivers if you choose to carpool
  • Bring extra shoes and plastic bags for your boots after the hike as it could be muddy.
