Description
A hike to the base of the volcanic plug, then a steep scramble to the top for lunch
- article – Skoatl Point 2014
- meet at Paul Lake meet-up spot at 9:00
- drive to Skoatl trailhead (1.5 hrs)
- high-clearance vehicles needed for carpooling
- hike to the base of Skoatl, then scramble to the peak
- the final scramble is up vertical rock ledges for 15 minutes; not for those with a fear of heights
- lunch on top, with a fine view of the Bonaparte Plateau
- return by the same route
- a moderate route, but the steep scramble is not for everyone
