Description

A Wednesday Winter Walk in the Woods above “Wac we Jeune” – wwww@Jan. 13

  • the planned route is the Ridge Lakes
  • article – Ridge Lakes Loop
  • this is not a novice route and both experience and fitness requirements apply
  • there is a long climb to the top
  • lunch at Ridge Lakes; bring something to sit on
  • we will snowshoe together and follow the same route (parallel tracks okay); “doing your own thing” increases my stress level and also fragments the group so please don’t join us for this event if this is your style
  • watch this listing for updates and comments in the last 48 hours

wwwws:

  • all locations will be dependent on snow conditions and will be chosen 7-10 days out from the date
  • Plan B routes will be chosen if it snows heavily or rains
  • we will try to avoid cancellations, but will comment to the event if heavy rains or very cold weather is predicted
  • early season wwwws will likely be walks on the snow
  • Once the snow depth is over 9″, snowshoe events can start
  • most wwwws will take place at 3000 feet elevation and higher
  • all wwww events will start at 10:00 at a meetup spot tbd – watch the listing
  • participants must be adequately fit to hike on the snow or snowshoe for 2.5-3+ hours
  • all outings will be in the forest and not on pay-for-use trails
  • dress for the conditions
  • dog friendly, but if the snow is deep or the temperature is very cold, please choose wisely
  • Good snowshoes, gaiters, and poles are recommended
  • bring something to sit on for our lunch break
