Description
A moderate hike in the grasslands in early spring
- meet at the Batchelor Hills meet-up spot at just before 10:00
- carpool to the trailhead
- hike through the grasslands past ponds, along ridges to viewpoints and over rock bluffs back to the parking area
- article – A Nature Hike in the Grasslands
- some wildflowers will be out, but so will the ticks
- there will be some grassland birds and some wetland waterfowl nesting so this will be a dogs on leash only hike
- lunch along the way
- some up and down to test fitness levels, but overall, a moderate hike
- a scenic and peaceful natural area so we will go through the area quietly, leaving nothing but our footprints
- we will be doing a cleanup of the parking area at the trailhead. I will bring some garbage bags and we can load it into the back of my truck
Notes:
- ticks will be out so take the usual precautions
- we leave promptly at 10 so arrive a bit early
- carpooling – $3
- if conditions are muddy, bring a change of shoes
- watch the listing in the last week for updates
