Description
The long range forecast for Tuesday looks pretty good. The snow if off the south facing slopes so the conditions should be pretty good (but cold – bring lots of layers). If the forecast changes over the weekend, the hike may be moved up to a better day – the Leader will email participants if there are any changes. This hike will be weather dependent and may be cancelled if the forecast changes.
This is a long (24 km return trip) and steep (860m elevation gain to the summit). We will therefore have to keep a steady pace if we are to make it to the summit and back before dark – bring a headlamp just in case.
Once we leave the Fight Lake Trail there may not be much water – takes lots with you.
Make your way up from Kamloops and meet the leader at the Wells Gray Info Center at 8:30. From there we will take a 4×4 up into the park and the rough Battle Mountain Road. We should be on the trail no later than 9:30. That gives us 9 hours before sunset for what should be an7 – 8 hour hike.
