Description
This hike will be up to the Mara East summit via creeks, ridges and cliffs from behind the old research station.
This was a favourite hike of Tramps founder Paul Battjes and we will try to keep up the tradition of some off trail hiking.
The weather forecast looks good for a hike, but participants should be prepared for possible wet and muddy conditions.
The expectations are for a steady, moderate pace. There is a reasonable amount of uphill elevation gain and we will check out the cliffs near the top for a good rock gully scramble route up to the top. This is not a hike for beginners.
Participants should be prepared with:
- good hiking boots;
- gaiters (optional);
- poles.
