Description
A hike up and down a series of ridges on the west side overlooking Tranquille River (on Easter Monday)
- meet at the Brock Dog Park to carpool to the trailhead
- hike up an old double track, then off-trail, steeply up the north-bearing open slopes
- the route up the ridges is 2.5 km, but climbs 360 vertical meters (1181 feet); an average slope gradient of 15%
- lunch on top of the Pimple (the prominent hill overlooking the canyon)
- the route down will be off-trail, descending back down open slopes parallel to our route up
- although the whole route is only 7km, it is a demanding hike with a lot of off-trail work
- hiking poles and good boots recommended
- dogs okay, but there is a lot of cactus in the hills
- ticks will be out too
