Description

The snow has been falling on Trophy Mountain for a couple of weeks.  There should be a good snow pack on the ridge to Trophy 2.  I would expect significant snow on the Plateau and some snow as you get higher up in the meadows.  The access road has some snow higher up, but good snow tires should get us up to the trailhead.

Meet at the Paul Lake Meet-up at 8:00am and drive to Clearwater.  Meet the leader at the Wells Gray Info Center at 9:30 and head to the trailhead.  We should be on the trail by 10:00.

I would expect light snow through a very wet meadows with snow levels accumulating as we go.  We will hike as far as we can and then put the snow shoes on for the rest of the route.  We will snowshoe across the plateau and then up to the Long Hill Col.  From there across the ridge to the Trophy 2 summit.  Expect cold windy conditions on the ridge.

It is the expectation that all participants will continue to the summit even if the clouds have come in.  Watch the forecast if you are looking for pristine conditions  as the leader will continue to the summit in any event.

Dos are welcome – the leader will be bringing 2 – 3 dogs.
