Description

The access roads to Trophy Mountain are now clear of snow.

For this event we will drive to the East Ridges Trailhead.  I would expect a wet trail to begin with and encountering snow half way up.  Once we get to the Trophy Chalet I would expect significant remaining snow.  The leader will be bringing spikes and snowshoes to allow for all conditions.

Once at the chalet, we will circumvent the first bump (Trophy 9) and hike to the second ridge (Trophy 8).  If conditions are favorable, we will continue down to a large (probably still frozen) tarn and a final accent to the third ridge.  Once on the third ridge we can witness the best view in Wells Gray Park – the three tiered lakes and the snow covered main summit.

This will be a harder hike with variable conditions.  But we will take lots of short breaks along the way and then enjoy the sun and snow up top.

Participants will meet at Paul Lake meetup spot at 7:30 to arrange transportation.  The group will then meet the leader at the Wells Gray Info Center at 9:00.  We will be on the trail by 9:30.

It looks like a sunny day – we will be playing in the snow so Bring Sunscreen and a Hat.
