Description
An exploration off trail up and over Wheeler Mountain
- meet at the Batch meet-up spot at 10
- carpool to the starting point on the Pruden Pass Road
- hike up the double track for a short distance but bear off up the open slopes of Wheeler Mountain
- all of the hiking on Wheeler will be off-trail in open forest
- we will hike to the summit where we will have lunch then wind down on another exploratory route
- we will likely be crossing a barbed wire (grazing) fence or two but we will be in the park at all times
- this is tick season so take the usual precautions
- it is hard to predict how long this will take; it will depend on route choices, conditions, the group dynamics, and the unforeseen events that always happen
- this is not an event for novices and we will need to stay together on the trackless southeast part of the mountain
