Description

A Wednesday Winter Walk in the Woods

  • Taking into account a recent injury, probable weather/snowing conditions, the temperature, parking access, etc. I have chosen the Outer Inks Lakes Trails for Dec. 23.
  • This will be a hike on the snow.   Conditions should be okay for hiking in boots, but bring gaiters, poles, and traction devices if you have them,   There are dozens of routes in the area, but if conditions are good, we will hike to Dam Lake in a 2+ hour loop.
  • Meet at Aberdeen Mall to carpool.   Bring a change of shoes to reduce snow/wet boots  in the drivers vehicle.
  • Articles – Outer Inks Lakes Trails and Outer Inks Lakes Trails
  • we will try to avoid cancellations, but will comment to the event if heavy rains or very cold weather is predicted
  • early season WWWWs will likely be walks on the snow
  • Once the snow depth is over 9″, snowshoe events can start
  • most WWWWs will take place at 3000 feet elevation and higher
  • all WWWW events will start at 10:00 at a meetup spot tbd
  • participants must be adequately fit to hike on the snow or snowshoe for 3 hours
  • all outings will be in the forest and not on pay-for-use trails
  • dress for the conditions
  • dog friendly, but if the snow is deep or the temperature is very cold, please choose wisely
  • bring something to sit on for our lunch break
  • there will be a weekly event from Dec. 16 through Feb. 24
  • registration available to 2015 members only
