UPDATED 12.31.2017
Happy New Year and a big welcome to all new members.
Some spaces have just become available for the Yoho Park hike as the Fireweed Hostel has extended our booking to the end of January.  The cost for the hostel is $45/night.
The big attraction in Field is the Burgess Shale fossil beds. Here, a Federal Government Guide takes you on an all-day strenuous hike up to one of the best fossil discoveries in Canada. Your reservation for the Burgess Shale hike, and payment of $55, to Parks Canada has to be done ON January 11.
Please note that Leadership approval is required for both of these hikes. As there are time limits to register for both of these hikes, please call me at 250.682.3821 to be added.
An information session is tentatively scheduled for 5:30 pm on Saturday Jan 6th at the Kamloops Sports Council located at 262 Lorne Street. Please call me if you intend to come.

I’m looking ahead to next summer where we can hike and stay in Yoho Park.
We all know that the Yoho Park has many different hikes/skill levels and I foresee the need for additional leaders. Hopefully we can have nice sized groups with lots of hiking options. Such as Lake O’Hara which is 30 minutes away which would allow for day hikes.
The Fireweed Hostel in Field is an option and the only available weekend is the August 3, 4, and 5 of 2018. If we fill the hostel (24 beds) we will get a break in the pricing which is currently at $45 per person per night.  Please note the hostel is almost booked for next year. These date are being held in reserve and I have to make a commitment before the end of this month. Oct 27th to be exact.
I’m suggesting that we follow Michelle’s lead which was to have a continuous potluck at supper time. You make your own breakfast and lunch. I’ll make crepes for everyone on Sunday Morning.
Have you been to the fossil beds?
