KHChirps
  • Some Future Camps for the summer of 2018 have started to appear on the KHC list of events.   Most of these require members to contact the hike leader (mostly by email).
  • Events that fit into the Future Camps category can be found on this website page.
  • FMCBC’s August Newsletter – link
  • There are a number of trails, Rec Sites, and Parks closures in the province because of fire conditions.   At this time, all Kamloops Rec Sites are closed on a voluntary basis.  Cathedral Lakes is under evacuation order (info).   The Highway 24 area is also under evacuation alert/order at the north end of the Elephant Hill fire.
  • There are days when driving to the Coquihalla, to Whistler,  or to the Shuswap will mean hiking without smoke.   Check webcams for conditions where possible.
  • Watch for a series of hikes along the Trans Canada Trail from Princeton to Hope (Kettle Valley route) in 2018.   More details to come.
  • A fall social/dinner is being planned.  It will be posted as an event once details are finalized.
  • Some of our hike leaders will be hiking afar in 2018 – Nepal, Europe, and the southwest.   We look forward to hearing about their adventures.
  • Membership renewals for 2018 will be open in the late fall.

Retired now, I get into the outdoors most days to hike, paddle, camp, snowshoe, or explore. Some of my activities involve more difficult routes, but most are suitable for moderately fit people too. Since I am out several times a week, I post one (or two) event(s) each week and I invite a small group of like-minded people to join me. Kamloops Trails
