KHC hike leaders want to hear from you

Summer is here and our leaders are always wanting feedback on places and trails you would like to venture to this year. We have started a forum topic ( right side of the page) for you to send us your outdoor activity “wish list”. Whether it be backpacking to the Rocky Mountains, day hiking to beautiful water falls in Wells Gray Park, road biking in the Shuswap , or even paddling the blue waters of Johnson Lake……the KHC leaders are here to do our best to make it happen. So start the discussion today!!

T-shirt due date today

June 26 is the last day to put in your t-shirt orders. Get one for a friend or have your partner surprise you with one as a gift! This is will be the last chance to receive your shirts for the summer. Next order date will not be submitted until late Fall. Click here to go to the shop.

Celebrate Canada Day with Parks Canada

Visitors can celebrate Canada’s 149th birthday on Friday, July 1, with free admission at all national parks, national marine conservation areas, and Parks Canada-administered national historic sites.  Visit their website for more information.

As a flatlander from Manitoba I have always been captivated by the mountains of the west. Moving to Kamloops has provided me with the perfect base camp to explore those very peaks that pulled our family west.

My typical hiking style can be summed up with “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”. Bushwhacking has become an acceptable form of travel for me as it seems that a lot of the great spots are off trail.

Hikes done by myself and Marty tend to fall into this category so don’t be surprised if this happens on a Marant hike. You can find more information at
