There are 4 trailheads:

• at  the corner of Barnhartvale Road and Gardiner Road (recommended)
• from Barnhhartvale Hall (can be icy in early spring)
• off Robbins Range Road near Barnes Lake (not an obvious trailhead)
• off the Scuitto Lake Road near Tree Flats  (requires route-finding)
• Barnes Lake Trails (article)
• these are Crown lands with a grazing lease to the Barnhartvale Horse and Hiker Preservation Society
• etiquette on these trails is to yield to horses;  step off the trail and let them pass
