Looking Ahead (Part Two)
Our last post provided some background information on our plans for 2015-2016. Here are some additional details:
- More information on 2016 KHC Memberships will be provided on the website in September 2015.
- Membership renewals will be available for current active members from October 1 to October 31. Only logged in members will be able to see the online forms.
- The items to be completed will be an online registration, an online waiver (this has to be verified through an email confirmation), and fees paid. All 3 must be completed.
- Membership will be open to the public (new, renewing, inactive) on November 1st, 2015 and will stay open until the membership cap of 200 is reached. In theory, we will have reached our cap by December 1, 2015 (or earlier).
- Events planned/listed for 2016 will be enabled after December 1st, 2015.
- There will be a small number of backpacks or camps that may be open for expressions of interest earlier since bookings for high-demand campsites, huts, and facilities may require a commitment long in advance. 2015 members will have first rights to these.
- New members will receive their login rights and passwords in December. If any December events have openings/cancellations, they will be allowed to register for these.
- A number of events primarily for new members will be offered, starting with some snowshoe events in January.
- The Board of Directors will review the membership cap at its fall meeting and a summary of the minutes will be provided on the website.
- The Annual General Meeting for KHC takes place in March, 2016. A discussion on membership policies and practices will take place at that time and any motions from members can be brought forward at that time. There will also be an election of Board members; the new Board can choose to review KHC policies, if there is a need to.
- For more information on KHC polices and practices, members and perspective members can review KHC’s Standard Operating Procedures.
